Murchison Falls is one of the most dramatic natural spectacles in Africa. Here, the mighty Nile River is forced through a narrow 7-meter gap in the rocks, creating a thunderous explosion of water that sprays 50 meters into the air. The water volume of 300 cubic meters per second creates a constant rainbow in the mist.

Located within Murchison Falls National Park - Uganda's largest protected area - the falls are surrounded by diverse wildlife including elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, hippos, and crocodiles. The park spans 3,840 square kilometers of savannah, woodland, and riverine forest.

Visitors can experience the falls from both the top and bottom. The top offers an up-close view of the powerful rapids, while a boat cruise takes you to the bottom where you can see the full height of the falls (43 meters) and watch water explode through the gorge. The "Devil's Cauldron" - the pool at the bottom - is both terrifying and mesmerizing.

The boat cruise also offers excellent wildlife viewing along the Nile, with large herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and countless hippos and crocodiles. Birders will spot the rare shoebill stork, Goliath herons, kingfishers, and over 450 other species.
